Stokey Bookshop event

The award-winning Stoke Newington Bookshop continues to contribute significantly to the intellectual and cultural life of our parish.

On Thursday 14 January at 7pm, Nick Holder, David Solman and Ken Worpole will be discussing the Hackney Society's new publication, Hackney - Modern, Restored, Forgotten, Ignored. Take a walk through the landscape and architectural remains of some of the Borough's churches and chapels, from medieval Catholicism to modern nonconformists. Explore Abney Park Cemetery and St Augustine's Tower, tin chapels in Dalston, and Anna Barbauld's house parties. In the Society’s words, ‘if you love Hackney, then come along to the bookshop and join in an exploration of what makes Hackney the place we all know and love’.

This is a Hackney Society event, free to members of The Hackney Society and £3 to non-members. A glass of wine is included. To reserve a seat, phone the bookshop on 020 7249 2808 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
